Well, the day seems to finally be upon me. After six months of rereading, rewriting, and editing, Papa Zulu is set to be released in about a week’s time. While I was hoping to get it out in time for Valentine’s Day, a bit of deliberate irony on my part, I am pretty sure at this point that I will need a few extra days to make sure everything’s in order.
Wanting to avoid the same mistakes I made last time with early publication, I have opted for the slow road and I hope to maintain that until I’m sure the book is as polished as it can be. Needless to say, I am pretty happy with the end result and it has tested pretty well with those who’ve read it thus far. I’ve also taken the liberty of preparing advance copies for people who have agreed to give it an early review.
Needless to say, the book picks up where the last left off, bringing new enemies into the fray and revealing new details about this post-apocalyptic world. Consistent with the Three Act Play scenario, the second book is where things go dark, the heroes are put in a harm’s way, and people die! If you want details, you’re going to have to red it…
So as you can imagine, I’m pretty excited! By this time next week, the long wait will be over and the sequel to Whiskey Delta will be published! And maybe then I will be able to get to penning the third installment without thinking I’m getting ahead of myself. In the meantime, I thought I’d share the cover art (above) and the promo trailer (below) one last time:
Leave it to engineers to make our world a little more transparent! In what is sure to be a novelty amongst clothiers, perfect for one-on-one social occasions and soirees – but definitely not dress parties! – designer Daan Roosegaarde has unveiled a design he calls the “Intimacy Dress”. A first amongst fashion designers, this article of clothing responds to the wearers level of arousal, and responds by turning see-through, at least in some sections.
In short, the dress works thanks to a series of “e-foils,” which are opaque coils made of “electronics, LEDs, copper and other media” that are embedded in the fabric. In response to your heartbeat, the coils become highly transparent, enhancing a romantic “close and personal encounters with people.” The only possible drawback is that the dress could just as easily turn transparent due to elevated stress levels or anger, so avoid wearing it at family occasions!
Though it has been in development for many years, the 2.0 model will be hitting the market just in time for Valentine’s Day. Good news for anyone into high-fashion, high-tech, or both! Happy Valentines to all, and in the meantime, check out this (tasteful) video of the Intimacy Dress in action!
I know, I complain pretty bitterly about all the unnecessary sequels and remakes that are coming out these days. But a Die Hard sequel is one thing you will never hear me complain about. I mean, c’mon, it’s Die Hard! Pure, smashy, action, death-defying goodness! And when a new trailer for the upcoming A Good Day to Die Hard comes along, especially one that boasts this kind of action-pornographic goodness, I’m sure to post it!
Note that this trailer expands on the last one by sticking to the main points of interest, but adding some key details. Basically, we’re given a bit more info on who the bad guys are and what their agenda is before getting into a big father and son shoot em up! And I couldn’t approve of the setting more. There’s just something about a post-Cold War Moscow. So beautiful, rich in culture and history, but with a dark and unseemly underbelly! Perfect place for an action tour de force.
So watch the movie, experience a fangasm, and then join me in trying to book some early tickets. This one comes out soon, set for a February 14th release. Yep, the perfect Valentines Day movie date! I don’t need to remind you there’s likely to be some lineups…
